Stearyl alcohol (112-92-5, stearyl alcohol) is a C18 straight-chain higher fatty alcohol, a white, flaky solid, insoluble in water. Its core uses include thickening, emulsifying, stabilizing, and moisturizing cosmetic creams and lotions; it is an essential ingredient in face creams and hand creams. It is also used in the production of surfactants such as AEO and AES; in pharmaceuticals as an ointment base; and in plastics and rubber as a lubricant and mold release agent. It is chemically stable, low in irritation, and has good compatibility; its cosmetic-grade purity is ≥99%. It can be stored in a cool, sealed place.
